There are fears that knackeries in the Shannonside region could once again close.
Members of the Animal Collectors Association have been balloted on a number of options, including withdrawing their services, as talks with the Department of Agriculture have reached an impasse.
The Association says there’s been a poor follow through on commitments made by the Department after the first shut down of services last September, when concerns over funding were first raised.
There are 38 centres nationwide, and they say that there has not been an increase in funding for over 10 years.
