A south Roscommon resident is highlighting the dangers of children crossing the old Athlone to Ballinasloe road near the newly built Coláiste Chiaráin.
Corin Bishop says the poor condition of the road combined with the higher volumes of traffic using it to drop children to schools in the area is leading to very dangerous situations.
The local resident says he's always been aware of the need for something to be done about the road but the fact that his son has recently started at the school has highlighted the matter again.
He says most motorists travel at 80 kilometres an hour on the route and there are no safe places for the children to cross the busy route.
