Elphin lotto winner collects winnings of €500,000

A Roscommon man has come forward to claim €500,000 after the lucky ticket was sold in Elphin last week.

Speculation had been at fever pitch in the Roscommon town since last weekend after the Lotto confirmed that the top prize on the 9pm Daily Million Plus draw last Friday was won in the county.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he is in shock and says he didn’t get a wink of sleep after checking his lotto ticket at around 10pm last Friday.

The man, who bought his ticket in Glancy’s Supermarket in Elphin, which has a population of just over 500, said he will take his time before deciding how to spend his windfall.
