Eleven birds of prey have died due to human interference over the past 12 years in the Shannonside Northern Sound region

Eleven birds of prey died as result of human interference in the last 12 years in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.

A new report published this week from the National Parks and Wildlife Service reveal that four incidents occurred in Leitrim between 2007 and 2019 – with three in Roscommon and two in Cavan.

The incidents include shooting, poisonings , trapping as well as strikes against wind turbines.

Three birds of prey have died in Roscommon, Leitrim and Monaghan in the last 12 years – with two in Cavan and none in Longford.
