Elderly man killed in suspected Keadue hit-and-run named as Dublin priest

The elderly man killed in a suspected hit and run incident in Keadue over the weekend has been named as a Dublin priest.

Fr Michael Guickian was in the Drumboylan area to visit relatives and attend a family mass when he was struck by a car on Saturday night at around 11pm while out walking.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and subsequently, a man in his 20s presented himself to gardaí in Carrick on Shannon

Fr Guickian, who was 81, was based in the St Michael’s parish in Dublin 8, and was only in Roscommon for the weekend on a visit.

Gardai in Boyle are appealing for anyone who may have been in the Drumboylan area on Saturday night and who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at 071-9664620
