€53,000 to go to peatland conservation groups in the Shannonside region

Over 53,000 euro has been awarded to groups working to conserve and revitalise peatlands in the Shannonside region.

The Cloonsellan Abbey Conservation Group in Roscommon has been approved for an allocation of over 11,200 euro to carry out maintenance and enhancements to the existing bog road at Clooncraff and to install interpretative directional signage.

The Mount Allen Residents Association has received 7,700 euro to install water monitors in the area, quadrant surveys, complete restoration works and generate a report of the findings.

Glenamaddy Tidy Towns can now progress with its work to upgrade two walking trail loops around the Frass Clooncon bog with grant aid of over 13,000 euro.

While Kilteevan Tidy Town’s ongoing work at Cloonlarge bog has received a boost of over 20,000 euro.
