Direct anger at government not refugees – Ming

Roscommon MEP Luke Ming Flanagan says refugees who will be accommodated in Ballaghadereen are entirely blameless for any public anger at how their situation has been handled.

Over 80 Syrian refugees are due to arrive into the west-Roscommon town before the end of March where they will stay at the Abbeyfield hotel in the town for a period of up to six months before more refugees are brought in.

The Junior Minister of Justice confirmed this week that it was a deliberate decision by the government not to consult the town before an agreement was reached to accommodate the refugees in order to prevent a possible veto on the decision.
