Dietician services removed from local health clinics in Elphin, Strokestown and Ballaghadereen

A Roscommon councillor is condemning a decision to take away the dietician service from clinics in Elphin, Strokestown and Ballaghadereen.

Councillor Valerie Byrne says she has found out by default in recent days that the service has been cut from the three clinics, and patients will now have to attend at Boyle, Roscommon or Castlerea instead. The Independent councillor says that while she hasn’t been told anything officially, she understands that the removal of the local service is a cost cutting measure, and it could be returned in the autumn of this year.

Councillor Byrne says that given the experience of the past she has no faith that any service which has been taken away for any period of time, will actually come back to the area.
