Deputy Fitzmaurice calls for extension to hedge-cutting deadline due to flooding on farmlands

There are calls for extensions to a number of government schemes that are being impacted by flooded lands.

With the deadline for hedge cutting at the end of this week, Roscommon Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice with land totally waterlogged at the moment there hasn’t been any real opportunity for farmers or contractors to make any progress,

The Independent TD says there’s also an issue over fencing programmes under TAMS.


Deputy Fitzmaurice says as well as farmers, county councils are also under pressure.
