Tenders are set to be issued in the coming weeks for the building of the new hospice unit in Roscommon town.
Planning permission for the 8 bed facility was granted at the end of June and the hospice CEO Martina Jennings says she hopes the tenders will be complete within six weeks and that the sod can be turned before Christmas.
The hospice CEO has been speaking ahead of the national coffee morning fundraiser for the hospice which saw €107,000 raised on the day across Roscommon and Mayo last year.
The new unit in Roscommon is expected to cost in the region of €6 million euro and all of that money has to be provided through fundraising.
