Castlerea GP urges public not to be complacent with local confirmed cases of Covid 19 expected to rise

A Castlerea GP is appealing to people in the Shannonside Northern Sound region not to be complacent in maintaining physical distancing.

Officials figures on the rate of confirmed cases in Roscommon and Leitrim are in the less than five category, there are four confirmed cases in Longford.

However, GP practices say there are more people presenting with symptoms of Covid-19 – with the strongest indicator being shortness of breath.

Patients now need to have a fever and either a cough or shortness of breath and also need to be either contacts of a confirmed case, healthcare staff or vulnerable group.

Castlerea GP Greg Kelly says he has no doubt cases will increase substantially in the next week.
