Boyle may be set to get state-of-the-art CCTV

Boyle may be set to become the latest Shannonside town to get a state-of-the-art CCTV system.

At a recent meeting of the north Roscommon town’s chamber of commerce, it was agreed to discuss with business owners whether there was a need for it.

Michael Keville, the president, says there’s currently a low crime rate in Boyle and security cameras may be a good way of maintaining that.

He claims the Department of Justice’s new grant scheme, which provides grants of up to €40,000 for CCTV systems, is the main reason the chamber is considering the proposal.
