Boyle cancer patient backs nurses’ pay-rise demands

A cancer patient in Boyle has given his strong support to the nurses in their ongoing strike.

The nurses are set to begin a three-day strike tomorrow, which would lead to the cancellation of thousands of appointments.

One of those who could be affected is Boyle resident Terry Allen, who had a diabetes appointment in Sligo University Hospital postponed because of last Thursday’s strike.


The 85-year-old was also recently diagnosed with multiple-myeloma cancer.

But he believes the nurses do deserve for better pay.
