The average price of rent in Connacht is now 24% above its previous high in early 2008.
Property inflation remains high in the entire Shannonside Region as the cost of renting a room in the region increases by 4.5%.
A report by Daft.ie revealed that Roscommon is the most expensive place to rent a home in the region with the average tenant paying €722 a month, that’s an increase of 12.4% in the last year.
In Longford, the average rent costs €714 a month, an increase of 8.9%.
While in Leitrim the average asking price is up 9.1% from last year to €608 a month.
Roscommon also has the highest average mortgage repayment in the region, with homeowners paying on average €706 a month, in Leitrim that figure is €705 while in Longford the average homeowner pays €689 in repayments.
