Athleague and two other areas in the Shannonside region enjoyed success at the Pride of Place awards over the weekend.
The Roscommon village was named the overall winner of the category for areas with a population of up to 300 people.
Judges were impressed by the “successful completion of many projects” and “the strong bond that had developed between the local community and their County Council.”
The judges also praised the village for recovering from devastating flooding which affected the area ten years ago.
Boyle and Ballinahown were also named as runners up in their respective categories.
