Almost 100 people are on hospital trolleys or chairs this morning as result of overcrowding at Accident and Emergency departments.
42 people at University Hospital Galway are waiting for a hospital bed today – the third-worst figure in the entire country.
26 people are also waiting to be admitted at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, while 5 are waiting for a hospital bed at its sister hospital in Mullingar.
10 people in Sligo University Hospital and 7 patients in Portiuncula in Ballinasloe are also waiting for a hospital bed. The worst affected is Cork University Hospital with 50 people waiting for beds.
It’s followed by University Hospital Limerick where 44 patients are on trolleys.
