Almost 100 allegations about Gardai in the Shannonside region were made to GSOC last year
According to the annual report by published the Garda watchdog, 32 allegations were made against Gardai working in the Sligo Leitrim district, which was the lowest in the country.
64 allegations were made against Gardai working in the Roscommon-Longford area – which was the fifth lowest in the country.
Gardai in both regions also referred two cases each to the Garda Watchdog.
A referral is usually made when the conduct of a member of An Garda Siochana may have resulted in the death of, or serious harm to, a person.
The Garda watchdog’s annual report shows almost 2,000 complaints detailing almost 3,000 allegations were made against gardai – a slight drop on the previous year’s figures.
