95% take up of MMR vaccine in Western health region so far this year

Roscommon, Mayo and Galway have a 95% take-up of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine for the first three months of this year.

The information form the HSE which is being given to Community Health Organisations this week shows that the vaccine take-up is much better in western areas than along the eastern side of the country.

The same data shows that the vaccine take-up for children in the wealthier areas of south east Dublin and east Wicklow was 87%.

As children return to school the HSE is urging parents to ensure vaccinations are up to date.
