ESB is confirming several hundred people in the Shannonside region will be without electricity until at least until tomorrow morning due to Storm Dorris.
Certain households in Ballymahon, Castlerea, Ballinalee, Fourmilehouse and Lanesboro are set to be in darkness overnight.
ESB staff have been working all day to restore power, but about 34,000 homes and businesses countrywide are still in darkness.
About 4,000 people in counties Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon currently have no power.
North Roscommon and south Leitrim was particularly badly affected by the storm and many households in that area remain without power.
A total of 210 people in Arigna still have no electricity, as do 505 in Ballyfarnon and 106 households in Rooskey are also without power.
There are also several hundred without power in Mohill and Carrigallen.
Several households are still in darkness in west Roscommon, included 205 in Castlerea, about 850 in Ballaghaderreen.
In the Longford area, Finea was particularly badly hit, with more than 1,465 people still without power.
There are also outages at Aghamore, near Lanesboro, with 40 houses affected, while there are 17 houses without power near Longford town.
While a significant number will be have it restored by this evening, some will have to wait until tomorrow, as David O’Connell, ESB area manager for Longford and Roscommon, explains.
