21 local schools competing in BT Young Scientist competition

Students from Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon are presenting 21 projects at this years’ BT Young Scientist exhibition.

Roscommon has the highest number of projects with 13 making it to the finals and include the impact of closing local post offices by Mercy Secondary School, with students from the Castlerea Community College asking why we are not wearing protective headgear in sports.

Among the six Longford projects is a study by Lanesboro Community College students to designing a model to quantify effects of our diets on CO2 emissions with Moyne students exploring the home use of information and communication technology.
