200 people attend public meeting concerned over proposed upgrades to N61 Ballymurray – Knockcroghery – St John’s

Up to 200 people attended a public meeting last night concerned over proposed routes for the N61 upgrade between Ballymurray and St John’s in south Roscommon.

Six routes put out for public consultation were discussed in the community centre in Lecarrow last night.

While there was acknowledgment that speeding and safety on the route needs to be addressed, the prospect of an entire new road from just outside Roscommon town, through Mote Park and down to Nolan’s corner beyond St John’s, was not required and would be opposed.

These people told Shannonside news that there are major issues of concern over constructing a brand new road.
