Many Local Election candidates in Region decide to go ‘Poster Free’

Four areas in the Shannonside region, and just over a dozen candiates, have decided to go poster free for this year’s local elections taking place next month.

New figures published by the Poster Free campaign show Kilteevan and Ballintubber in Roscommon have both declared their villages to be poster-free zones for candidates – while Ballymahon in South Longford is also asking election hopefuls not to erect posters as well as Dromod in Leitrim.

A number of candidates in the region have also declared themselves to be conducting a campaign without posters on polls or by roadsides.  In total so far, 8 candidates in Roscommon, three in Longford and just one in Leitrim have so far declared that they will run poster-free campaigns.
