The 26-year-old has been charged with third-degree assault and could face up to a year in jail if convicted.

McGee had been living in New York for just over 12 months and was working as a doorman at the time when the incident happened.

The trial is expected to last a number of days and Mr O’Brien’s lawyer has indicated he will be contesting the charge.
