Unions representing seasonal workers at Bord na Mona are hoping that work can be found for them in the coming months.
Both sides are back at discussions to resolve an impasse over future roles for permanent workers – the company is under pressure to secure some level of employment for all 72, while Lough Ree power remains off line.
Unions are also seeking work for 78 seasonal workers who were all let go last week, six have now opted to take voluntary redundancy, which had been on offer before this issue arose.
While there had been concern that only statuary redundancy was being made available, unions have received assurances that full severance terms would be available.
SIPTU representative Willie Noone.
Mr Noone says there’s still work to be done also for seasonal workers.
