Six people arrested in Tyrone in connection with Ballymahon stabbing

Six people have been arrested in County Tyrone in connection with an alleged stabbing in Longford on Tuesday morning.

The PSNI are understood to have arrested the six men in Dungannon after a man in his 40s was seriously injured in an incident in Ballymahon’s Main Street at around 7am yesterday morning.

The men are being questioned in connection with the incident and it is understood a weapon was also discovered following their arrests.


The injured man is not believed to be a Longford native and had only just arrived into Ireland from the UK ahead of a planned ceremony in Longford town on Tuesday


He was transferred to St James’ hospital in Dublin last night for emergency surgery having initially been treated at Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar.
