SIPTU hopeful progress can be made as talks resume with Bord na Mona

Talks are to resume this lunchtime between unions and management at Bord na Mona over job retention at Mount Dillon.

While it was understood that all permanent employees would be retained by the company on Friday, an impasse developed earlier this week between the two sides.

It’s understood management at Bord na Mona had stated it may not have work for all full time staff and that some might have been laid off.

Pressure from politicians Denis Naughten, Eugene Murphy, Kevin Boxer Moran and Michael Fitzmaurice this morning, has now resulted in Bord na Mona returning to the talks without any preconditions.

SIPTU’s Willie Noone explains they are hoping that progress can be made.
