People across the Shannonisde Northern Sound region are being urged to be more disability aware ahead of Make My Way day tomorrow.

The national awareness campaign urges people to stop and think before they place obstacles on footpaths, park in disabled parking spaces or not leave enough room for ramps.

Sandwich boards along footpaths are particularly challenging as they like other items block the vision of wheelchair users and forcing them and their assistants to go onto the road to pass by.

Disability representative of the Longford Public Participation Network Maria Keelty outlines the main issues that arise in public spaces.
