Car dealers in the Shannonside region saw a large decrease in the number of new vehicles sold last year according to figures published today.
Roscommon saw almost 150 fewer cars sold in 2018 compared to 2017, according to the Society of Irish Motor Industry figures, an overall drop of 12.5 percent.
Dealerships in Leitrim saw a similar decline in the number of new cars sold last year with just 484 ‘181’ or ‘182’ registered cars rolling off the forecourts last year – a drop of 12 percent on 2017 figures.
Only Cavan car dealers recorded a higher drop in their car sales, with a reduction of 15 percent reported in the county on newly registered cars.
The number of brand new vehicles sold in Longford dropped by 6.5% on 2017 figures, with 599 new vehicles sold last year.
