Roscommon TD welcomes end to beef protests as demonstrations in Ballymahon become the latest to draw to a close

A Fianna Fail TD says trust must be restored if the beef price row between meat factories and farmers is to be resolved.

Blockades have ended at roughly nine factories – almost a week after a deal was agreed between stakeholders in the dispute.

Around 10 pickets remain in place at meat plants, however others are expected to be stood down over the weekend. Today, meat processing plants in Ballymahon, Co. Longford and Athleague, Co. Roscommon. The protest outside the factory in Clones is due to come to an end tomorrow evening.
