Over €5.3 million has been allocated to the Shannonside Northern Sound region for housing adaptations for older people and those with disabilities.
The announcement was made by the Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien as part of a €74 million allocation to councils across the country.
Cavan is receiving the most locally at €1.5 million, followed by Monaghan with €1.2 million.
€1.1 million will be spent in Roscommon, €824,000 in Longford and just over half a million in Leitrim.
The scheme is made up of 80 per cent Government funding with the remainder paid by County Councils.

Today's announcement has been welcomed by local Senator Eugene Murphy and TD Brendan Smith.
They say the scheme is all about keeping people in their own homes for as long as possible.
