Revenue Commissioners fine a dozen Shannonside individuals for tax offences

Over a dozen individuals or business owners across the Shannonside region have been fined by the Revenue Commissioners for a number of offences ranging from the sale of illegal cigarettes to failure to hold a liquor licence.

The figures cover the period from July to the end of September this year.

Six Shannonside companies or individuals have been fined €1,250 for failure to lodge income tax returns, while one Roscommon businessman was fined €1500 for a similar offence.


One Athlone publican was fined over €1250 for failure to lodge VAT returns, while three individuals were fined between €2.500 and €3,000 for misuse of Marked Mineral oil.

A Longford man was fined €2,500 for illegally selling cigarettes while a publican in Mohill was also fined just over €600 for failure to hold a liquor licence.
