Public being asked for locations for new CCTV cameras in Longford

There’s to be an increase of fifty percent in the number of cameras in the CCTV system in Longford.

A public consultation is underway for the new locations for 21 new cameras across the town in an effort to deter, prevent and detect those involved in anti social behaviour and criminal activity.

There are 32 cameras across the town at present at 22 locations, and 10 new locations are being proposed for the new cameras.

People can view the maps and get information on exact locations at the council offices on Great Water Street – observations can be made until February 3rd.

Chair of the Joint Policing Committee Councillor Seamus Butler outlines the details.
