The principal of a Longford secondary school says parents and students are responding well to stay at home protocols put in place in the school.

The principal of a Longford secondary school says parents and students are responding well to stay at home protocols put in place in the school.

A class at St Mel's College is now self-isolating after a positive case was identified.

The CBS in Roscommon town has also posted notice that it has been notified of a confirmed case of Covid-19 in a class in the school.

It has conducted a public health risk assessment and all close contacts have been identified and students not deemed as close contacts do not have to stay home from school or self-isolate.

Principal at St Mel's Declan Rowley says everyone should be getting used to as a new reality but also take responsibility that the virus is in the community
