Possible merge of Longford and Mullingar Credit Unions not expected to majorly impact customers

Credit union members in Longford will not see any changes in their day to day dealings with the local branch if a proposed merger with Mullingar proceeds.

The proposal is being put forward by management and the Board, so that members can access services like ATM and debit cards, mortgages and agricultural loans.

Seventy-five percent of members have to approve the measure at the annual general meeting in Longford Arms Hotel next Wednesday night.

Chairperson of the Board in Mullingar Paul Isdell says there will be no reduction in services.

Assistant Manager in Longford Nicola Burke says people will not see any change in the local branch.
