Plans for rear entrance to Longford courthouse welcomed

The Cathaoirleach of Longford Municipal District is welcoming plans by the council to provide new access to the rear of Longford courthouse for garda prison vans or other security vehicles.

The issue was raised by Councillor Seamus Butler at this weeks meeting of the local authority when he said that traders near the courthouse had expressed some dismay at seeing so many garda vehicles parked along the lower part of the town during court sittings.

Councillor Butler said the issue had arisen after the council had welded the barrier at the Annaly car park after clearing the area a few weeks before Christmas.
