Plans for the realignment of the N55 between Athlone and Ballymahon were revealed to Westmeath councillors this afternoon.
Shannonside News understand that the new road will be the yellow route identified to the public in previous consultations.
The plans, which were unveiled to councillors in the last hour, aims to realign one of the busiest roads in the Shannonside region.
Landowners along the N55 were informed earlier in the month about the possible changes. Members of the public, who will get their first look at the plan at two o’clock, will have the opportunity to comment on proposed route until Autumn of this year, before the process of seeking funding will begin.
Cllr. Tom Farrell, of Westmeath County Council says not everyone will be happy about the plan.
