Planning permission to knock a former pub and develop 14 new homes in Newtownforbes has been appealed to An Bord Pleanala.

Last month Longford County Council gave the green light to developers to knock the site of the former Bohan's bar and develop the homes.

Plans submitted by J. & R. Maynooth Ltd call for 6 two bedroom bungalows and 8 three bedroom, two storey semi-detached type dwellings in the centre of the village.

The permission was subject to 16 conditions and the application has now been referred to planning inspectors to decide if it can go ahead.

A decision on the project is due by the 28th of June.
