Payments review putting extra pressure on farmers

Longford IFA Chairman Sean Conefrey says the review of payments to farmers which is taking place at present is likely to result in more farmers leaving the land.

He was commenting today in the wake of the Teagasc National Farm Survey which shows a drop of almost 10% in average farm incomes last year.

Sean Conefrey says that a review of payments in the past has inevitably led to less money for farmers, and if that happens this time around, more small farmers are likely to give up the struggle.
