North Roscommon residents appeal forestry licence decision

A group of residents in Corrigeenroe in North Roscommon are set to appeal a decision to grant a licence to a landowner for a plantation in the area.

The Department of Agriculture gave the green light to David Warren, who lives in Sligo, to plant over 19.2 hectares at lands in Kilbryan, over 80% of which would be Sitka Spruce.

Over 30 people from the area made a submission citing concerns on environmental, safety and social grounds, but the application was granted.

They are appealing that decision, one of the 8 residents along the small road into the site, Michael McGovern explains why:
