‘No to Derryadd Wind Farm’ group given a date for Bord Pleanála decision

The Chairperson of the ‘No to Derryadd Wind Farm’ Group says they’ve been given a date of the 14th of February next year for Bord Pleanala to make a decision on the proposal.

The deadline for the additional information requested by the authority from Bord Na Móna Powergen about their proposal to erect 24 major turbines on the bogland just outside Lanesboro expired on Monday of this week.

Niall Dennigan says he hopes the new attitudes towards climate change, and the recent announcement about the early closure of the Lough Ree Power Station in Lanesborough may help their case against the proposed wind farm.

He says Bord Pleanála were given a lot of information about the importance of re-wetting the bog lands during the Oral Hearing last June, and they’ve also been speaking to Minister Richard Bruton when he visited the area last Monday about the employment opportunities of a wilderness park:
