Two new drug and alcohol prevention and treatment services have been launched for people in Longford this afternoon.
It’s hoped the Extern Midlands Youth Drug & Alcohol Support Project will target an underage drug and alcohol prevention programme for children under 18 and their families in a community setting.
In addition to that service, the Merchants Quay Ireland group will provide a similar service for adults in a community setting.
The two new services were launched by Minister of State Catherine Byrne in Athlone today.
Joseph Ruane, the head of primary care services for the HSE in the midlands, Louth and Meath, says the changes will lead to a more efficient and effective service for young people and adults in the region.
