Nationwide parking charges brought in almost €70m to local authorities last year, according to the Sunday Independent.

The majority of of the councils’ multi-million euro parking charges income goes to Dublin City Council which received more than €29m from motorists in 2018.

A new survey by the Sunday Independent has revealed that another 17 councils throughout the country are now measuring their parking-charges income in millions of euro.

In Leitrim, they received €104,422 from motorists in 2018 and €112,422 in 2017.

Meanwhile, Longford County Council received €301,123 in 2018, while Roscommon County Council had no council charges for parking anywhere.
