Motorists warned about theft of catalytic convertors from cars in Longford

Motorists in Longford are being warned of a spate of thefts of catalytic convertors from vehicles.

It comes after the latest incident yesterday which saw a catalytic convertor sawn off the bottom of a Pajero jeep which had been parked in the new car park near St Mel’s cathedral.

The owner had parked there in the morning around half past eight and the theft could have happened anytime between then and half past five in the evening when they returned.

It’s reported that similar thefts have happened in recent weeks in other areas around Longford town and people are asked to be on their guard.

The catalytic convertors which are attached to exhaust systems are understood to be worth several hundred euro and are likely to be stolen to order.
