Motorists travelling on N55 warned to expect delays in Ballymahon this week

Motorists travelling on the N55 in the Shannonside region are being warned to expect some delays in Ballymahon for the next couple of days.

The delays are as a result of works taking place at Nally’s Corner in the middle of the town and at the Water Tower end of town beside the Athlone road junction.

Gas Networks Ireland are carrying out the works at Nally’s Corner, while the project at the Water Tower area is being carried out on behalf of Longford council to underground overhead power wires.

Longford Council has said they are trying to co-ordinate traffic management arrangements for the works to ensure the least disruption to road users, but warn that delays can be expected until Thursday evening of this week.

Local Councillor Pat O’ Toole who’s Cathaoirleack of Ballymahon Municipal District says he hopes that the gas networks project will be finished by the end of January and that will pave the way for the beginning of significant streetscape works…
