Meeting to help settle asylum seekers in Ballinamore taking place tomorrow

A meeting is being held in Ballinamore tomorrow evening at 6 o’ clock with a view to preparing a welcome for the seven asylum seeker families who are due to arrive in the town shortly.

The official announcement was made last night by Minister David Stanton who said that 27 people will be involved in total and they will be living in the apartments at Rock Quarter.

Saj Hussein, who’s been involved in the friends group working with refugees in Ballaghaderreen, says anyone who thinks they would like to help the people settle in to the community is being invited to the meeting tomorrow evening.

He says they’ve already held two meetings in the town and tomorrow’s will obviously be more focused now that the people will be arriving soon:
