Trial on death of Longford man Danny McGee to take place in November

An Irish man is due to go on trial later this year in connection with the death of a young Longford man in New York last November.

Danny McGee died following an incident outside a bar in Queens on Thanksgiving night.

Dublin man Steven O’Brien, with an address in New York, was charged with assaulting the 21-year-old Drumlish native.

The accused appeared in court in New York earlier this week and his trial is due to begin on November 14th.

He is alleged to have struck Mr McGee on the side of the head outside the Gaslight bar following a verbal row between both men.

It’s understood that Mr O’Brien will be pleading not guilty to all charges connected with the incident.
