Man charged with attempted murder in Ballymahon refused bail

A man charged with attempted murder in Longford have been refused bail by a court in Northern Ireland.

Eoin Stokes, 37, with an address in England has been charged with the attempted murder of a ‘Michael Stokes’ in Ballymahon on January 30.

A magistrate at Craigavaon Courthouse denied him bail citing a number of reasons including that he will attempt to flee the jurisdiction, is liable to commit further offences and is likely to interfere with witnesses.


He was remanded into continuing custody at Maghaberry Prison with a co-accused Thomas Stokes with both due to appear again in court on 23 February.

Gardai have made a fresh appeal for witnesses to the incident that occurred on the Main Street of the town at 7.15am.
