The Mall walkway will be a one-way system during the Covid-19 crisis as part of social distancing measures implemented by Longford County Council.
The change at the popular green area of Longford Town will be implemented as of this weekend.
As well as this, the council are also placing signs at various public amenities in the region asking the public to respect social distancing, and reminding people there should be no more than four in any one group.
Councillor Gerry Warnock has said it’s a precautionary measure to protect the wider community, as more people are using the walkways for their physical and mental health during the crisis.
