Cannabis with an estimated street value of €200,000 has been seized in Longford in an operation targeting a west Dublin organised crime gang.
The discovery was made after Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Garda Special Crime Task Force stopped a vehicle in Edgeworthstown Co Longford yesterday.
The vehicle was subsequently searched and cannabis herb was discovered.
A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Granard Garda station Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Investigations are continuing.
