Longford woman runner-up in a ‘Women in Youth Activism’ award

A Longford woman is the runner-up in a ‘Women in Youth Activism’ award at the Women in Europe Awards, along with Greta Thunberg who was up for the same honour.

Síona Cahill, who is the former President of the Union of Students in Ireland, was nominated by the European Movement Ireland for her work on marriage equality and promoting voter registration.

KONSENT founder Johanna Nejedlova took home the overall title, which is awarded to a woman aged 15 to 30 for strengthening the voice of young women in Europe.

The awards are handed out on an annual basis in four categories to honour women who advance the European project either professionally or personally.
